There are amazing web tools out there and as a long time edtech user and coach I’ve spent many a night searching the web wondering to myself, “Is there a tech tool that does that? “ Most of the time, the answer is yes.
These links represent a list of my 40 favorite web tools, each of which I’ve used in some way in the classroom or referred to colleagues over the years. I hope they are as useful to you as they have been to me!
Screen Capture – One of my all-time favorites! Take a screenshot of an entire webpage! Works well on mobile too! Portable web pages!
Online Dictation – Type a note with just your voice. Great alternative to Google Docs.
Goo.gl – The ultimate web address shortener.
UnFurlr – Reverse shortener. Shows you the original link behind the short one.
Qlock – Find what time it is anywhere on the planet
Iconfinder – Search engine for icon images. Very helpful for making classroom games and sims.
Jotti - Suspect a file is really malware or a virus? Use this website to upload and scan it.
Save Web Files - This tool allows you to save a file directly to your Dropbox or Google Drive without downloading it first. Works on mobile too!
PDF Escape - Edit and fill out a PDF in your browser!
Eggtimer - A handy web timer with all sorts of presets
What the Font? - Like a font used in a picture? Not sure what the name is? Upload an image of it to this website and it'll identify it for you!
Google Fonts - Add fonts to your Google Docs or computer. All Open Source.
Livestream - Like Periscope or Google Hang Out for your browser.
AutoDesk Homestyler - If you are doing any kind of design project, this tool will help your students create a 3D home from scratch.
